How England performed
England's 2022 Six Nations opened with a 20–17 defeat by Scotland at Murrayfield. Eddie Jones's side, with Tom Curry and Courtney Lawes captaining during the championship, responded with a 33–0 win over Italy at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, conceding no points, and then beat Wales 23–19 at Twickenham.
The final two rounds brought defeats. Ireland won 32–15 at Twickenham, and France won 25–13 at the Stade de France in the last match. Two wins and three defeats, with 101 points scored and 96 conceded, left England third, two places higher than in 2021 despite an identical record of two wins and three defeats. Outside the win in Rome, they did not score more than 23 points in any match.
