How England performed
Under head coach Simon Middleton and captain Sarah Hunter, the Red Roses won the 2022 Women's Six Nations with a Grand Slam. They opened with a 57–5 win over Scotland at the Edinburgh Rugby Stadium and then beat Italy 74–0 in Parma, their biggest win of the championship.
Home victories followed over Wales, 58–5 at Kingsholm in Gloucester, and Ireland, 69–0 at Welford Road in Leicester. The key match came in the final round at the Stade Jean Dauger in Bayonne, where England beat France 24–12 to complete the clean sweep. Five wins from five, with 282 points scored and only 22 conceded, delivered the title and improved on 2021, when they had been champions without a Grand Slam. France were the only side to score more than five points against them.
