England: Shared champions

How England performed

When the championship resumed in 1947, England picked up where they had left off in 1939, as shared champions. They began with a 9–6 win over Wales at Cardiff Arms Park, Cardiff, on 18 January, but Ireland won 22–0 at Lansdowne Road, Dublin, on 8 February.

At Twickenham, London, Scotland were beaten 24–5 on 15 March and France 6–3 on 19 April. Three wins from four, with 39 points scored and 36 conceded, earned England their share of the title.
