England: Champions (Grand Slam)

How England performed

England won the Grand Slam in 1957, taking the championship with four wins from four and conceding just eight points. Both away matches were tight, low-scoring affairs: a 3–0 win over Wales at Cardiff Arms Park, Cardiff, and 6–0 against Ireland at Lansdowne Road, Dublin.

At Twickenham, London, France were beaten 9–5 before Scotland were seen off 16–3 to complete the clean sweep. England scored 34 points in total, improving on their second place of 1956.
