Six Nations Championship

How England performed
England opened the 2006 Six Nations in convincing fashion under head coach Andy Robinson and captain Martin Corry, beating Wales 47–13 at Twickenham and Italy 31–16 at the Stadio Flaminio in Rome. The second half of the championship was a different story. Scotland won 18–12 at Murrayfield, and France then inflicted the heaviest defeat of the campaign, 31–6 at the Stade de France.
The final round brought a third successive loss, Ireland winning 28–24 at Twickenham. England finished with two wins and three defeats, scoring 120 points and conceding 106, and were fourth for the second year in a row. Having won their first two matches by a combined 49 points, they failed to win any of the last three and scored only 42 points across those games.
