England: Champions (Triple Crown)

How England performed

The 1884 Home Nations Championship brought England a second successive title and Triple Crown. The campaign opened at Cardigan Fields, Leeds, where England beat Wales by one goal and two tries to one goal, the extra tries deciding a match that was level on goals.

England then won 1–0 against Ireland at Lansdowne Road, Dublin, and completed a clean sweep with a 1–0 victory over Scotland at Blackheath, London. Unbeaten in all three matches, they were champions once again.
