Six Nations Championship

2013
Six Nations

England: 2nd

How England performed

England began the 2013 Six Nations with four straight wins under head coach Stuart Lancaster and captain Chris Robshaw. Scotland were beaten 38–18 at Twickenham, Ireland 12–6 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, and France 23–13 and Italy 18–11, the last two again at Twickenham.

That set up a final-round trip to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff with a Grand Slam still possible, but Wales won 30–3, inflicting England's only defeat of the championship and leaving them second. The scale of that loss turned a healthy points difference into a modest one: England finished with 94 points scored and 78 conceded. Four wins and one defeat matched both their record and their finishing position from 2012.
