Six Nations Championship
England: 2nd (Triple Crown)
How England performed
England's 2014 Six Nations began with a narrow 26–24 defeat by France at the Stade de France, a two-point margin that proved to be their only loss of the championship. Stuart Lancaster's side, captained by Chris Robshaw, responded by beating Scotland 20–0 at Murrayfield and then edged Ireland 13–10 at Twickenham.
A 29–18 win over Wales, also at Twickenham, secured the Triple Crown, and England closed the campaign with a 52–11 victory over Italy at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, their biggest win of the tournament. Four wins and one defeat, with 138 points scored and 65 conceded, left them second for the third successive season, as in 2012 and 2013, with the Triple Crown added this time.
