Six Nations Championship
England: Champions
How England performed
England retained their Six Nations title in 2017 under head coach Eddie Jones and captain Dylan Hartley, though the defence of their Grand Slam fell at the final hurdle. They opened with a 19–16 win over France at Twickenham and won 21–16 against Wales at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Italy were beaten 36–15 at Twickenham, and England's biggest win came in the fourth round, a 61–21 victory over Scotland at the same ground. That left them unbeaten going to Dublin, but Ireland won 13–9 at the Aviva Stadium, inflicting England's only defeat. Four wins and one defeat, with 146 points scored and 81 conceded, still secured the championship, following the Grand Slam of 2016.
