Six Nations Championship
England: 2nd
How England performed
England opened the 2019 Six Nations with a 32–20 win over Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, the key away result of their campaign, and followed it by beating France 44–8 at Twickenham. Under head coach Eddie Jones and captain Owen Farrell, they travelled to Cardiff unbeaten, but Wales won 21–13 at the Millennium Stadium.
England bounced back with a 57–14 victory over Italy at Twickenham, then finished the championship with a 38–38 draw against Scotland at the same ground, the highest-scoring match of their campaign. Three wins, a draw and a defeat, with 184 points scored and 101 conceded, left them second, a significant improvement on fifth place in 2018.
