How England performed

Narrowly beaten in their opening game, England recovered to finish second in 1902. Wales won 9–8 at Rectory Field, Blackheath, on 11 January, but England then beat Ireland 6–3 at Welford Road, Leicester, on 8 February.

The campaign closed on 15 March with a 6–3 win over Scotland at Inverleith, Edinburgh. Both victories were by three points, and two wins from three, with 20 points scored and 15 conceded, lifted England from fourth place in 1901.
