How England performed

England began the 2010 Six Nations with a 30–17 win over Wales at Twickenham and a 17–12 victory over Italy at the Stadio Flaminio in Rome. Martin Johnson's side, captained by Steve Borthwick and Lewis Moody over the course of the championship, then lost 20–16 to Ireland at Twickenham, ending their unbeaten start.

The fourth round brought a 15–15 draw with Scotland at Murrayfield, and the final match ended in a narrow 12–10 defeat by France at the Stade de France. England finished third with two wins, a draw and two defeats, scoring 88 points and conceding 76, one place lower than in 2009. Their scoring was modest throughout: only the opening win over Wales brought more than 17 points.
