How England performed

Two wins were not enough to lift England above fourth in 1929. They opened with an 8–3 victory over Wales at Twickenham, London, on 19 January, but Ireland won 6–5 at the same ground on 9 February.

Scotland won 12–6 at Murrayfield, Edinburgh, on 16 March, before England finished with a 16–6 win over France at Stade Colombes, Paris, on 1 April. They scored 35 points and conceded 27, a steep fall after their 1928 Grand Slam.
