England: Won 3–0

How England performed

Following their 3–1 win in Australia in 2010–11, England beat Australia 3–0 at home in 2013 and did not lose a Test. The opening match at Nottingham was settled by 14 runs: England trailed by 65 on first innings but made 375 second time round and dismissed Australia for 296. At Lord's, London, the margin was far wider, Australia bowled out for 128 and 235 in a 347-run defeat.

Manchester was drawn, England reaching 37 for 3 after Australia declared twice, on 527 for 7 and 172 for 7, a result that meant England retained the Ashes. England won again at Chester-le-Street by 74 runs, dismissing Australia for 224 in the second innings, and the final Test at The Oval, London was drawn with England on 206 for 5.
