How England performed

Substantial England totals were not enough in the first three Tests of 1924–25, all won by Australia. In Sydney, England made 298 and 411 but lost by 193 runs; in Melbourne, Australia's 600 set up an 81-run win despite England's 479 and 290; and in Adelaide, England's 365 and 363 left them 11 runs short.

The 4th Test, again in Melbourne, brought England's only win, as they made 548 and dismissed Australia for 269 and 250 to win by an innings and 29 runs. The series ended in Sydney with a 307-run defeat, England bowled out for 167 and 146, and Australia took the series 4–1.
