How England performed

After sharing the previous title, England won the 1974–75 championship outright, unbeaten after a win and two draws, with seven goals scored and three conceded.

The season opened with a goalless draw against Northern Ireland at Windsor Park, Belfast on 17 May 1975. Johnson scored twice in a 2–2 draw with Wales at Wembley Stadium, London four days later, Toshack and Griffiths replying. England finished with a 5–1 win over Scotland at the same venue on 24 May 1975: Francis scored twice, Beattie, Bell and Johnson once each, and Rioch converted a penalty for the visitors.
