How England performed
Champions again in 1892–93, England won all three matches, scoring 17 goals and conceding three. Gilliat scored a first-half hat-trick in a 6–1 win over Ireland at Wellington Road, Birmingham, where Smith, Winckworth and Sandilands also scored and Gaffikin was on target for Ireland.
Spiksley then scored hat-tricks in each of the remaining fixtures. His three goals against Wales came in a 6–0 win at the Victoria Ground, Stoke-on-Trent, with Bassett, Goodall and Reynolds adding the rest. Against Scotland at Richmond Athletic Ground, London, he scored three times between the 78th and 84th minutes of a 5–2 win; Gosling and Cotterill also scored for England, Waddell and Sellar for Scotland.
