How England performed
The Red Roses retained the Women's Six Nations title in 2023 with a second successive Grand Slam under head coach Simon Middleton, with Sarah Hunter and Marlie Packer both captaining the side during the championship. They opened with a 58–7 win over Scotland at Kingston Park in Newcastle and followed it with a 68–5 victory over Italy at Franklin's Gardens in Northampton.
Away wins over Wales, 59–3 at Cardiff Arms Park, and Ireland, 48–0 at Musgrave Park in Cork, set up the final round at Twickenham, where England beat France 38–33 in the key match of the campaign to complete the clean sweep. Five wins from five, with 271 points scored and 48 conceded, matched the Grand Slam of 2022. France scored 33 of the 48 points England conceded.
