No noise. No nonsense. Just England.
Women's Six Nations
England: 2nd (Triple Crown)
How England performed
The Red Roses opened the 2002 Women's Six Nations with a 35–8 win over Scotland in Dunbar and then beat Ireland 79–0 at Worcester, the biggest result of their campaign. The key match came in Lyon on 1 March, where France won 22–17 to inflict England's only defeat of the championship.
England responded with a 40–0 victory over Wales at London Welsh and closed with a 53–14 win against Spain in Madrid. Four wins and one defeat, with 224 points scored and just 44 conceded, brought the Triple Crown and second place. It was a step down from 2001, when the Red Roses had won the championship with a Grand Slam, and the five-point defeat in Lyon was the only match in which they scored fewer than 35 points.
