How England performed
The Red Roses opened the 2005 Women's Six Nations with an 81–0 win over Wales at Cardiff Arms Park. The key match followed at Imber Court in London, where France won 13–10 to inflict England's only defeat of the championship.
England responded by beating Ireland 32–0 at St Mary's College in Dublin and Spain 76–0 back at Imber Court. Their record read four wins and one defeat from five matches, with 221 points scored and only 23 conceded, which brought the Triple Crown and second place, the same outcome as in 2004. The three-point defeat by France stood out in a campaign in which Wales, Ireland and Spain all failed to score against them.
