How England performed
England's defence of the T20 World Cup title in the West Indies and the United States in 2024 took them to the semi-finals, again under captain Jos Buttler and head coach Matthew Mott. Group B began with a no result against Scotland in Bridgetown, followed by a 36-run defeat by Australia at the same ground, where Australia made 201/7. England recovered in North Sound, dismissing Oman for 47 and winning by 8 wickets in 3.1 overs, before beating Namibia by 41 runs under the DLS method in a match of 10 overs a side.
The Super 8 brought two convincing wins: West Indies were beaten by 8 wickets in Gros Islet and the United States by 10 wickets in Bridgetown. In between, South Africa won by 7 runs, holding England to 156/6 in reply to 163/6. The semi-final against India in Georgetown ended the defence, India making 171/7 and dismissing England for 103 to win by 68 runs. England finished with four wins, a no result and three defeats.
