England: Super 10

How England performed

England's 2014 T20 World Cup in Bangladesh was confined to the Super 10, where all four of their Group 1 matches were played at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Stuart Broad captained the side and Ashley Giles was head coach. The opening match against New Zealand was decided by the D/L method: England made 172/6, but New Zealand were 52/1 after 5.2 overs and won by 9 runs.

England responded by chasing down Sri Lanka's 189/4 with four balls to spare to win by 6 wickets, their only victory of the tournament. South Africa then made 196/5 and held England to 193/7, winning by 3 runs. The campaign closed with a 45-run defeat by the Netherlands, who made 133/5 and bowled England out for 88 in 17.4 overs. England, who had gone out in the Super 8 two years earlier, finished with one win and three defeats and did not progress beyond the Super 10.
