How England performed
England won the T20 World Cup for the first time in 2010 in the West Indies, a year after going out in the Super 8 on home soil. Paul Collingwood captained the side and Andy Flower was head coach. The start in Guyana was unconvincing: West Indies won the opening Group D match by 8 wickets under the D/L method despite England's 191/5, and the game against Ireland ended in a no result. That was nevertheless enough to take England into the Super 8.
From there they did not lose again. Pakistan were beaten by 6 wickets and South Africa by 39 runs at Kensington Oval, and New Zealand by 3 wickets in Gros Islet, chasing 150 with five balls to spare. In the semi-final, also in Gros Islet, Sri Lanka were restricted to 128/6 and England won by 7 wickets in 16 overs. The final against Australia at Kensington Oval followed the same pattern: Australia made 147/6 and England reached 148/3 in 17 overs to win by 7 wickets and claim the trophy.
