England: Group stage

How England performed

England's defence of the Women's T20 World Cup in the West Indies in 2010 ended in the group stage, a year after they had won the title on home soil. Charlotte Edwards remained captain, and all three Group A matches were played at Warner Park in Saint Kitts and Nevis. The opening match against Australia could hardly have been closer: both sides were dismissed for 104, England in 17.3 overs and Australia in 19.4, and Australia won the Super Over that followed.

Two days later, hosts West Indies made 122/8 and held England to 120/9 to win by 2 runs. England's final group match brought a 56-run victory over South Africa, who were bowled out for 85 in reply to 141/6, but with two defeats from three matches the side could not progress. It was a campaign decided by the finest of margins, with one win set against two very narrow losses.
