No noise. No nonsense. Just England.
UEFA Women's Championship
England: Fourth place
How England performed
The Lionesses won all six of their qualifiers for the 1987 UEFA Women's Championship, scoring 35 goals and conceding two. Davis scored five times in an 8–1 win in Northern Ireland, the return fixture brought a 10–0 home win, and Curl scored a hat-trick in a 6–0 victory in the Republic of Ireland.
At the finals, Martin Reagan's side, captained by Debbie Bampton, met Sweden in the semi-final. Sherrard and Davis scored to give England a 2–1 lead in the first half, but Sweden levelled after the break and won 3–2 in extra time. England then lost 2–1 to Italy in their final match, Davis scoring an early penalty, and finished fourth. Two defeats from two matches, with three goals scored and five conceded, fell short of the runners-up finish of 1984, though Davis was on target in both fixtures.
