England: Fourth place
How England performed
The Lionesses went through qualifying for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France unbeaten, winning seven of their eight fixtures and conceding only once while scoring 29. The only points dropped came in a goalless home draw with Wales, and Parris led the scoring with six goals.
At the finals, Phil Neville's side, captained by Steph Houghton, won all three group fixtures, beating Scotland 2–1, Argentina 1–0 and Japan 2–0, with White scoring twice against Japan. They then beat Cameroon 3–0 in the round of 16 and Norway 3–0 in the quarter-final, Scott scoring in the third minute of that match. White scored again in the semi-final against the United States, but England lost 2–1, and they were also beaten 2–1 by Sweden in their final match, Kirby scoring, to finish fourth. White finished with six goals, and five wins and two defeats brought 13 goals scored and five conceded, one place lower than the third-place finish of 2015.
