England: Quarter-finals
How England performed
The Lionesses' campaign at the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup in Sweden was led by manager Ted Copeland, with Debbie Bampton as captain. They opened with a 3–2 win over Canada, Coultard scoring twice, one of them a penalty, and Spacey converting another spot-kick; England led 3–0 before Canada scored twice in the closing minutes.
A 2–0 defeat by Norway followed, both goals coming in the first half, but the Lionesses recovered to beat Nigeria 3–2 in their final group fixture, Farley scoring twice and Walker once. That result took them into the quarter-finals, where they lost 3–0 to Germany. The tournament ended at the quarter-final stage with two wins and two defeats from four matches, six goals scored and nine conceded. Coultard and Farley were the leading scorers with two goals each.
