How England performed
England won the 2009 Women's T20 World Cup on home soil under captain Charlotte Edwards, and did so without losing a match. All three Group B matches were played at the County Ground in Taunton. India were held to 112/8 and England reached their target without losing a wicket, in 15.4 overs, to win by 10 wickets. Sri Lanka were restricted to 68/8 in reply to 140/7, giving England a 72-run victory, and Pakistan were bowled out for 60 as England won by 63 runs despite totalling only 123.
The semi-final against Australia at The Oval was the sternest test: Australia made 163/5, and England reached 165/2 with three balls to spare to win by 8 wickets. In the final at Lord's, New Zealand were dismissed for 85 and England reached 86/4 in 17 overs to win by 6 wickets and lift the trophy. Five wins from five matches made it a flawless campaign.
