England: Relegated from League A (4th in Group 3)

How England performed

England's 2022–23 Nations League campaign in League A Group 3 brought no wins in six matches. It began with a 1–0 defeat by Hungary in Budapest, decided by a Szoboszlai penalty, before Kane's 88th-minute penalty earned a 1–1 draw with Germany in Munich. A goalless draw with Italy at Molineux followed, but the low point came at the same ground three days later, when Hungary won 4–0, Sallai scoring twice.

When the group resumed in September, Raspadori's goal gave Italy a 1–0 win at San Siro, leaving England without a victory after five matches. The final game, against Germany at Wembley, ended 3–3: England trailed 2–0 before Shaw, Mount and a Kane penalty put them ahead, only for Havertz to equalise late. Three draws and three defeats, with four goals scored and ten conceded, left England bottom of the group and relegated from League A, a sharp decline from third place in Group 2 in 2020–21.
