England: Third place (League A Finals)

How England performed

England's 2018–19 Nations League campaign in League A Group 4 began with a 2–1 defeat by Spain at Wembley on 8 September 2018, Rashford's early goal cancelled out by two from the visitors. A goalless draw with Croatia in Rijeka followed, before the key result of the group: a 3–2 win over Spain in Seville, where Sterling scored twice and Rashford once inside the first 38 minutes. Lingard and Kane then struck late to beat Croatia 2–1 at Wembley after Kramarić had put the visitors ahead.

That took England to the League A Finals in Guimarães, where the Netherlands won the semi-final 3–1 after extra time, Rashford's penalty having given England the lead. The third-place play-off against Switzerland at the same ground finished 0–0 after extra time, and England won the shoot-out 6–5 to take third place. Across the six matches they won two, drew two and lost two, scoring seven goals and conceding eight.
