How England performed
Big totals were a feature of the 1998 series in England, but none of the three Tests produced a winner, and the 0–0 draw left the Ashes with Australia.
At Guildford England made 414 and 160/1 against Australia's 569/6 declared. Harrogate brought three declarations, England's on 326/8 and Australia's on 306/3 and 303/5, before England finished on 64/0. At Worcester England were bowled out for 243 in their first innings against Australia's 427/4 declared, and they batted out the draw on 190/6.
