How England performed
Runners-up in 2004, England went out at the pool stage in India two years later. Andrew Flintoff captained the side, with Duncan Fletcher as head coach.
Their Group A campaign began with defeat by India at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, where England were bowled out for 125 in 37 overs and India won by four wickets. Australia then beat them by six wickets at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad after dismissing England for 169. England's only win came at the same venue in their final match, a three-wicket victory over West Indies in which they reached 276/7 in 48.3 overs to pass 272/4.
