Match guide

England and South Africa meet in the second ODI of their series at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on Wednesday 13 January 2027, with first ball at 11:30 UK time. It follows the opener in Paarl on 10 January, and the same ground hosts the third ODI two days later.

Before this tour, the sides' last ODI series, in September 2025, went 2–1 to South Africa. The second match of that series was the tightest, South Africa defending 330/8 to win by five runs, while England's 342-run victory in the third ODI was the most one-sided result. Across formats, our records show England with 22 wins, 20 defeats and two draws from 44 meetings since March 1992. England's ODI results in September 2026 were encouraging: an 89-run win over Sri Lanka, a 16-run defeat and a 223-run victory to take the series 2–1.
