The Nations Championship is World Rugby's newest competition, launched in 2026 to link the July and November Test windows into a single tournament between the Six Nations sides and southern-hemisphere opposition. England are taking part in the inaugural edition, so there are no completed editions, titles or final placings on our records yet, and no history of finishes against which to measure the current campaign.
With only one campaign under way, there are no lean spells or recoveries to chart. What there is so far is a short record: England have played three matches in the competition on our records, winning two and losing one. That is a modest sample, and the shape of England's record in this event will only start to emerge once the first edition is complete and later editions give a basis for comparison. For now, each result counts towards a single competition that spans both the July and November Test windows.
The 2026 Nations Championship began on 4 July 2026 and is in progress. England currently sit third in the Northern Hemisphere table, with the November window still to come. Where they finish will set the first benchmark for England in this competition, and the target from here is to climb that table and give their record in the new event a strong foundation from its very first edition.
