The England Cricket team have had a busy winter period with mixed results. England's test team got off to a flying start by thrashing Australia 3-1 on their own turf in the Ashes series. The Twenty20 team then one won and lost one against Australia, before England's ODI squad was humilated 6-1.

In February England headed to the 2011 ICC World Cup in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka with high hopes of making an impact. Despite being the most entertaining team in the tournament England just made it through the group stages before losing to Sri Lanka in the quarter-finals.

Third test ends in a draw

England went into their final test match against Sri Lanka with high hopes of wrapping up the series with another win. After a good bowling display on Sunday England put themselves in a good position but the Kumar Sangakkara's maiden Test century in England preventing them from doing this. However, England's win in the secont test meant that they won the series.

England on song in third test opener

England put in a strong bowling performance as Sri Lanka fell to a disappointing 81-4 on the first day of the third test. Heavy and frequent rain meant the first ever test match at the Rose Bowl was a very stop-start affair. Jimmy Anderson and co will be looking to put in a repeat (weather permitting) performance tomorrow as England look to take command of their third and final test against Sri Lanka.

Second test ends in a draw

England’s hopes of repeating their exploits in Cardiff were thwarted by a resilient Sri Lanka at Lords. However, the second innings of the test saw a return to form for the troubled Kevin Pietersen who reached a respectable 72. In contrast Andrew Strauss once again failed to get going as he was out for just 4 in the first innings and nothing in the second innings.

England stun Sri Lanka in Cardiff

England put in one of the greatest performances in recent memory to overhaul Sri Lanka on the final day of a rain-effected test match in Cardiff. After an impressive batting performance put the hosts 96 runs ahead, the game was expected to result in a draw after rain had delayed much of the test. England's bowlers thought otherwise as they ruthlessly tore apart the visitors, bowling them all out for 82.

Ashes Test Series - England Record Historic Win

Team England have managed to go against the history books and have managed to retain the Ashes on Australian soil for the first time in over twenty years. Not only did they do enough to retain the cup but they went and won the series 3-1

One Day Internationals

Alastair Cook has so far got off to a winning start as captain of the One Day International Team winning Series against Sri Lanka and India in England this summer. His next task is to take England to India and come away victorious. India will be gunning for revenge following their lacklustre performance in England, which will make for five cracking matches.


England's T20 Team are in fantastic form at the moment and are currently top of the Twenty20 International Power Rankings. In 2010 they won the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies. Including the matches they won at the 2010 World Cup, England went on an impressive run of eight Twenty20 wins in a row, before Australia brought them back down to earth in January.
